Our Story
RENU Training Academy Ltd first opened its doors in 2016, founded by Gail Smallman with a clear and simple vision: to make high quality vocational education in Hair and Beauty genuinely accessible to young people and adults alike. From the outset, the aim was to give learners a route into the industry that combined professional standards with real encouragement, so that qualifications were earned in an environment where people felt supported rather than judged.
Gail brings more than 26 years of experience in teaching and assessing to the academy. That depth of knowledge shaped RENU from its earliest days and continues to define how the academy works: learners gain industry recognised qualifications through hands on practice, clear guidance and a culture that takes both their ambitions and their wellbeing seriously. Over the years, RENU has built a reputation for turning interest into capability and capability into careers.
In recent years Gail has been joined by Charlotte Walder, Director, who brings extensive experience from across the wider education sector. Charlotte's appointment has strengthened RENU's leadership and sharpened its learner focused approach, bringing fresh perspective to how the academy designs its provision, supports its learners and plans for the future.
Today, that combined experience marks the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation. The new RENU Education builds on everything the academy has stood for since 2016, broadening its horizons while holding firm to the founding belief that good teaching, high standards and genuine support can open doors for anyone willing to step through them.
